Project Linus

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with Melodie Provost at the Project Linus Quilt Show in Windham.  The volunteers at Project Linus hold a very special place in my heart.  Their mission is to provide hand-made blankets to children who are seriously ill, suffering from a trauma or otherwise in need of some comfort and security.  Many of the blankets displayed included beautifully written and illustrated children's books and some even included an additional hand-made stuffed animal.  The 'blanketeers' who put so much of their time and energy into sewing, crocheting or assembling these remarkable gifts are truly extraordinary!

For more information on Project Linus and how you can get involved, please visit their website - http://www.projectlinus.org/.  Interested in becoming a 'blanketeer'?  There's a 'Blanket Day' tomorrow, September 13th at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough!

Thanks so very, very for coming to take photos for us at the Book & Blanket Show. It was a lovely day outside and I must add, that it was a very beautiful blanket show. Our volunteers and "blanketeers" work unselfishly. Everyone contributed to making this a wonderful day. There will be children with a smile who might not have had one.

The pictures are really lovely and capture the enthusiasm of all.

Thanks again.
